This is Darby and her little goat friend Lila. Horses are social animals and can become very neurotic if left alone. Goats, who are also social, tend to get a long well with horses and they are cheaper to care for, so a person who wants to have just one horse will often get a goat for a companion animal to the horse. And yes, goats will climb anything they can! Darby lives at the Duchess Sanctuary for Horses in Oakland, Oregon.
